Lecture | Pasadena Hotels, Motels & Resorts: The History of Overnight Accommodations in Pasadena
Thursday, August 20 | 7:00 pm
Pasadena’s history as a resort destination in the late 19th and early 20th centuries is well known. Grand hotels, such as the Raymond, Green, Vista del Arroyo, and Huntington, loom large in the pages of Pasadena’s development. However, the city’s history of overnight accommodations spans a much longer timeframe, from its beginnings as a small agricultural community to the present day. Join PMH Curator Julia Long as she explores the multifaceted evolution of tourism since the 19th century and discusses how these changes are reflected in Pasadena’s built and lived heritage.
Program will begin at 7:00 pm; PMH Galleries will be open for viewing at 6:00 pm.
Space is limited; advance reservations required.
A walking tour on Hotels, Motels & Resorts is scheduled for Saturday, August 22 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. For more information and tickets, click here.
