Does my youth have to have their own horse?

Accepted Answer

Yes, youth are expected to have their own horse and all needed equipment for this camp. Equipment includes but is not limited to: saddle, saddle pad, grooming tools, water buckets, hay/grain, etc.

Question 2

What are the 4-H safety requirements to attend this camp?

Accepted Answer

University of Nevada, Reno Extension requires all participants (mounted or unmounted) in any 4-H Horse activity, sponsored by 4-H or organized by 4-H, to wear a properly fitted ASTM-SEI rated helmet.

Question 3

My child isn't currently in a 4-H horse club, can they still attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Any youth ages 9-16 are invited to participate in this overnight camp.

Question 4

Where will my child's horse be located at?

Accepted Answer

Horses will be stalled at the Alamo Town Arena.

Question 5

Where will my child keep their saddle and various equipment?

Accepted Answer

There will be two livestock stock trailers on the arena property for youth to put their supplies in. These trailers will be locked up each evening at the arena.

Question 6

Where will my child be staying at for this camp? And will they be fed?

Accepted Answer

Your child will be staying at the 4-H Camp in Alamo and all meals will be provided.

Question 7

Can I contact my child on his/her cell phone at anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Cell phone use is encouraged to be limited during the sessions, however we understand if you need to get a hold of your child. If your child does not have a cell phone and you need to get a hold of them, you may contact the 4-H staff or the camp directly.
