A Summer Space Mission (July 28)

A Summer Space Mission (July 28)

Overview

Embark on a summer space adventure with Magic Tree House: Space Mission and The Heart of the Summer Scorpion

Join us at the Blake Planetarium for an exciting journey through space and the summer night sky, perfect for young explorers and their families.

Our feature presentation, Magic Tree House: Space Mission, follows the beloved brother-and-sister team, Jack and Annie, as they discover a mysterious note challenging them to answer six questions about space. Their quest takes them on an unforgettable adventure with the help of an astronomer, an astronaut, books, the Internet, and the author of the mysterious message. Along the way, they travel to planets throughout our Solar System and venture far beyond into the depths of the Universe. Filled with discovery, excitement, and plenty of surprises, this story-based journey sparks curiosity and inspires young audiences to learn more about the wonders of space.

Following the feature, guests will explore the early summer night sky and learn about one of the season's most recognizable constellations: Scorpius, the Scorpion. We'll focus on the bright star that marks the heart of the Scorpion and discover how to find this striking constellation in the evening sky. Participants will also learn how to use a simple partial-sky star map, giving them the tools to continue their stargazing adventures at home throughout the summer.
