We are working hard to bring Chicago its first Insect and Taxidermy Museum! Our focus is connecting to the beauty of nature in a non-traditional sense. During these events we will engage all of our senses to foster both  excitement and growth. At The Insect Asylum we encourage you to explore, as we do! Every time you walk through our doors we are hoping you  engage with the exhibits and develop a true sense of belonging with nature. Our mission is to allow people to get excited, to learn and to grow. We understand that inspiration takes flight in many forms. Come and get inspired, create, and connect with a beautiful community! Animal Paw Cloche Workshop Create a dome display using real, sustainably sourced mummified pawsIn this hands-on workshop, participants will create their own cloche display featuring real mummified raccoon or squirrel paws, thoughtfully arranged with natural materials to honor these creatures in a respectful, artful way.This guided workshop blends education, craft, and curiosity. You’ll learn about preservation while assembling a one-of-a-kind piece to take home.$150 glass cloche $135 plastic cloche(plus taxes and fees)What you’ll experience:<ul><li>Hands-on creation of a glass or acrylic cloche display</li><li>Use of real mummified animal paws</li><li>Guidance on composition, care, and long-term display</li><li>Context on memorial art</li><li>All materials included</li></ul>Important notes:<ul><li>This workshop uses real preserved animal parts and may not be suitable for everyone</li><li>Participants must be comfortable working with mummified specimens</li><li>Minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian</li></ul>Accessiblity note: please be aware that our classroom spaces are not wheelchair access at this time. We are happy to accomodate with an accessible classroom space on a case by case basis.
