How much space do you have on Halo nights?

Accepted Answer

We'll be setting up Howson's meeting room with 12 gaming stations (Xbox One S/X) loaded with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as well as spectator seating to watch the chaos ensue on our primary television. If we reach capacity for players, we will encourage people to trade off.

What do you play on Arcade Night?

Accepted Answer

We're loading up an array of zany party games! There's more socially-focused titles like Jackbox Games and Among Us; fast-paced chaotic brawlers like Gang Beasts, Stick Fight, and Nidhogg; friendship-shattering crucibles like Golf With Your Friends, and Worms: Battlegrounds, and more!

How much space do you have on Arcade Night?

Accepted Answer

We'll be setting up Howson's meeting room with a gaming station connected to our primary television, loaded with an array of local-multiplayer/splitscreen-enabled Xbox games, as well as a Steam library of popular party games for all! Bring your friends and cheer them on - crowds are welcome!

Question 4

Can we play Online, or join the party from home?

Accepted Answer

While unfortunately, we do not have the capability to engage in online play (outside of closures) at this time during Halo nights, we're working on Arcade Nights being remote-accessible in a limited capacity. We would love to hear from you if this is something you would like to see in the future!

Question 5

Can I bring my own stuff?

Accepted Answer

Whether you're playing to win, don't want to be left spectating, or are worried about discovering you're in the monstrous presence of someone who plays inverted, you're more than welcome to bring your own controller, console & monitor, or laptop (and the required cables) to expand the roster!

Question 6

Will there be snacks?

Accepted Answer

Well, it wouldn't be a very good LAN Party without snacks being provided, now would it? Crack open a cold can of soda or sparkling water and graze upon a variety of crunchy snacks between matches. Don't worry about shared controllers - there will also be wipes to keep things clean.

Can we *bring* snacks and/or food?

Please refer the Library's Policy, to which we must adhere, regarding distribution and consumption of food on the premises: https://library.austintexas.gov/policies#care ...That said, we encourage attendees to continue socializing afterwards at their eatery of choice!

I'm a Game Developer and would love to show off my work! Can you help?

Howson is a proud friend and partner of the Museum of Human Achievement's Games Y'all team, so we're no stranger to showcasing projects like this. Reach out to Matthew.Newman@austintexas.gov, and we can figure out if we're the right audience for you, and set time aside for you to share with us!

Question 9

My child is interested in this! With my approval as their parent/guardian, can they attend?

Accepted Answer

While we always appreciate the enthusiasm of our younger patrons, we will be strictly limiting attendance of this recurring event to ages 18 and up due to the fragility of the required hardware, the ESRB ratings of the presented content, and to give adults their own space to play freely together.
