For more than 100 years, the Pacific Northwest College of Art has served as a dynamic creative center for emerging artists, designers, and creators with an educational philosophy that emphasizes individualized curricula, independent inquiry, and cross-disciplinary exchange. PNCA students explore, experiment  and reimagine the world. At the creative heart of Portland, PNCA is a center for artists, designers, and scholars, presenting  a wide array of free public programs and exhibitions for our community.

Welcoming our neighbors from near and far, First Thursdays in the North Park Blocks are an opportunity to come together in celebration of art, joy and community. First Thursdays are a vital part of the cultural ecosystem of Portland. For decades, these monthly events have been a highlight of nightlife in the Pearl District and North Park Blocks, increasing cultural connection and retail activation downtown. <h4>5-8PM Community Art Build with Basic Rights Oregon </h4>	PNCA is honored to partner with Basic Rights Oregon for a 1TH Community Art Build! Join us for screenprinting, button making and art-making in support of BRO's important work in our community! Basic Rights Oregon (BRO) is one of the state’s leading progressive organizations. BRO works to ensure that all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Oregonians experience equality by building a broad and inclusive politically powerful movement, shifting public opinion and achieving policy victories. Basic Rights Oregon was formed in 1996 in response dozens of anti-gay ballot measures and to create a path for pro-active policy to bring dignity and respect to all LGBTQ Oregonians. Piece by piece, Basic Rights Oregon turned the tide on hate, racking up dozens of local victories, with the first big statewide victory in 2007, when they passed comprehensive nondiscrimination protections and domestic partnership recognition during the same legislative session. BRO's efforts also led to anti-bullying legislation in schools, expanded access to health care for transgender Oregonians, the freedom to marry and a ban on youth conversion therapy.<h4> </h4><h4>5-8PM Students of Color Collective Hallway Market</h4>	PNCA’s Students of Color Collective invites you to attend our annual exhibition &amp; hallway market! 	<h4>5-8PM EXPOSE YOURSELF! - Isopod Collective Uhaul Pop Up </h4>	Split into two parts, and two Uhauls, one truck shows member works while the other displays a group cyanotype project. Showing only April 2nd on the corner of NW 8th and Davis as well the parking lot of the 511 building.
