Autumn Foraging Walk & Fire Cider Making Workshop

Stover Country Park Car ParkNewton Abbot, England
Overview

Join Medical Herbalist, Yasmin Kerr, for an afternoon of foraging and hands-on medicine making at the beautiful Stover Country Park.

Are you looking for natural ways to support your family’s immunity and promote better health over cold and flu season?

Let’s use medicinal plants growing in our hedgerows and hiding in our kitchen cupboards to create potent winter remedies designed to boost immunity and relieve symptoms.

Join Medical Herbalist, Yasmin Kerr, for an afternoon of foraging, plant exploration and hands-on medicine making.

During the first half of the event, we will forage for seasonal plants; discuss key identification features; delve into their botanical folklore; and consider their historic and contemporary uses in Western Herbal Medicine. Participants will learn how local plants can support them throughout the Winter for common conditions. Subject to availability, we will forage seasonal plants such as hawthorn, elderberry, rosehip, and more. Once we have harvested some plants, we will make our way back to the Stover Centre.

During the second half of the event, participants will discuss common winter ailments; explore supportive herbal remedies; and learn invaluable tools to support one’s immune system all year round (from dietary and lifestyle advice to guidance on supplements).

Finally, guests will enjoy some organic loose leaf herbal Immuni-Tea, as Yasmin guides everyone through the process of creating their own bespoke Fire Cider. Fire cider is a traditional folk remedy and herbal tonic used for centuries to boost immunity, improve circulation, aid digestion and offer relief from cold and flu symptoms.

Participants will learn practical and effective tools to support all members of the family throughout the cold winter months, including preventative measures and natural remedies to encourage a speedy recovery. Participants will also receive an informative hand-out with recipes, book recommendations and top tips.

From this introductory workshop participants will leave empowered with the knowledge and skills to take care of themselves and their loved ones throughout cold and flu season.

So, come along, stretch your legs, connect with nature and some friendly strangers, and learn about the healing plants growing around us! We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful space.
