Join The Nature Conservancy for a guided walk through <a href="https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/piney-grove-preserve/" title="https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/piney-grove-preserve/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Piney Grove Nature Preserve</a> to observe birds and learn about the ecology of Virginia’s finest pine savanna habitat. This area is home to Virginia’s rarest bird, the red-cockaded woodpecker. Explore the area with TNC Staff, Dan Hannon, and learn about this beautiful ecosystem.This event is part of <a href="https://www.citynaturechallenge.org/" title="https://www.citynaturechallenge.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">City Nature Challenge 2026</a>! The City Nature Challenge is a friendly four-day competition between cities (and rural areas) all over the world to see which one can observe the most nature. Make observations using the iNaturalist app from April 24-27 2026 to participate.
