A salon-style events series curated by Cactus Store and Nonhuman Teachers, HORT/CULTURE is an act of interdisciplinary cross-pollination that brings together the diverse artists, thinkers and nonhuman lifeforms that make our wondrous world wonderful.

Join us in the West Room of <a href="https://nineorchard.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nine Orchard </a>for our second HORT/CULTURE event of the season. We&#x27;re utterly thrilled to have <a href="https://alexanderliebermann.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Alexander Liebermann</a> and <a href="https://www.patmccarthy.net" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">&quot;Pigeon Pat&quot; McCarthy</a> in our midst to share their respective creative practices, both of which involve collaborations with birds. Afterparty to follow at Cactus Store NYC bamboo garden.--Alexander Liebermann is a classically trained composer, Juilliard professor, and naturalist best known for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi9Lpnj5A7M" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">transcribing animal vocalizations into musical notation and performing the compositions as music</a>. Most recently Liebermann published a book entitled <a href="https://www.justatheorypress.com/product/birdsong/112" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BIRDSONG: A Musical Field Guide</a>, which offers unique perspective on the musicality of birds and their relationship to human music-making. P﻿at McCarthy is a multimedia<a href="https://www.patmccarthy.net/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> artist</a> and <a href="https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZodUadAPJjVu0oeRPSKgGvnrOgKNXMMj" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">pigeon flyer</a> whose work explores poetic narratives born of deep ritualized engagement with nature, animals, and travel. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Fonds Régional d&#x27;Art Contemporain, Marseille; Museo Jumex, Mexico City; and numerous private collections internationally.--HORT/CULTURE is brought to you by <a href="https://nonhumanteachers.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nonhuman Teachers</a>, our newly minted nonprofit dedicated to supporting ecological mindfulnesss in the city.
