Introducing: Brewlette!! A brand new manual coffee brewing competition that combines a little bit of luck with brewing skill, coffee passion, and camaraderie. Brewlette will feature two single origin coffees from the Counter Culture Coffee menu. These coffees will be revealed after registration.
Brewlette is a two round competition:
- Round One: Spin the Brewlette Wheel -- Each competitor will have a chance to spin the Brewlette Wheel. The Brewlette wheel has a range of TDS targets; competitors will select a competition coffee and brewing device to try and brew coffee to hit this TDS target. Competitors will have 8 minutes to brew. The 8 competitors that brew closest to their TDS targets will advance to Round Two.
- Round Two: Elimination Brewing -- Eight competitors from Round One will move into an elimination bracket, where two competitors will brew head-to-head in a knock-out style brew-battle. A panel of three judges will select the coffee they like best, without knowing who brewed the coffee or how that coffee was brewed, until there is one competitor remaining: the Brewlette Champion.
Brewlette will take place on Sunday, June 14th. The day for all competitiors will start at 9am for Competitor Breakfast/Calibration and Competitor Practice ahead of Round One. Doors open to the public at 12:30pm.
Competitors will have ample time to prepare for Brewlette. Competitors will each receive a 12oz bag of the competition coffees ahead of Brewlette. There will also be learning opportunities in the month leading up to competition, including a virtual learning session with the producers and importers responsible for bringing the comeptition coffees to life.
Thank you to our sponsors for helping make Brewlette happen! Mahlkönig USA, Third Wave Water, Urnex, Aeropress, Hario USA, Mooala, Slow Pour, Dona Tea, Tip Top Cocktails, Barista Magazine, and more announced soon!
