CANCELLED - Twilight Tales at the Refuge

Containing almost 30,000 acres of estuarine habitat, uplands, open water, mudflats, salt ponds, and salt marshes, including much of southern San Francisco Bay, Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge provides habitat for many wildlife.  Its purpose is to protect wildlife habitat for endangered species and migratory birds, and to offer opportunities for nature study. The Visitor Center and Nature Store in Fremont, is open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refugeis part of the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex and is administered by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. TheSan Francisco Bay Wildlife Societyis a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Friends group supporting the education, interpretation, and research activities of San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuges.

Alviso Programs

Upcoming events at the Alviso unit of the Don Edwards SF Bay National Wildlife Refuge, including the Environmental Education Center.

<h3>Update: Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, this program has been cancelled.</h3> Join us for an evening at the refuge in Alviso to hear tales of rails, tales of tails, and tales of gold, silver, and … garbage. You’ll learn why the refuge was created and why it is so important to all of us. Then as the sun sets, you’ll go on an easy stroll through the marsh on our boardwalk to find out how and why this area, a restoration of the original natural environment, is being adapted for the future.This program is led by USFWS volunteer Larry Rosenblum.Other Considerations:<ul><li>The event will begin promptly at 3:30pm. We recommend arriving early to ensure you don't miss any of it!</li><li>Wear comfortable clothing, layers, and comfortable walking shoes.</li><li>ADA-compliant parking spaces, trails, and portable toilet are available on-site.</li><li>Please note that with the exception of service animals, pets are not allowed at this part of the Refuge.</li><li>If you have questions or need any more accommodations, please don't hesitate to reach out to watershedwatchers@sfbayws.org.</li></ul>This program is brought to you by the <a href="https://sfbayws.org" title="https://sfbayws.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society </a>(SFBayWS), the nonprofit Friends group to the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex, with support from the <a href="https://scvurppp.org" title="https://scvurppp.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program</a> (SCVURPPP).
