Celebrate Juneteenth with the Detroit Public Library.

<p>Join us for an engaging and educational program that explores the rich history and lasting significance of Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the emancipation of the last enslaved African-Americans in the United States. We'll trace the origins of Juneteenth from June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce the end of slavery, to its recognition as a national holiday. This program highlights the resilience, culture, and contributions of African-Americans.</p>
