Christmas in July Sugar Cookie Decorating with Royal Icing

Beat the summer heat with a little holiday magic! Join Celebrity Pastry Chef Dawn of Ravy Cakes LLC for a festive and fun hands-on decorating class where the Christmas spirit meets the warmth of July.

In this class, you will learn the art of decorating sugar cookies with royal icing — one of the most versatile and beautiful mediums in the pastry world. Whether you are a complete beginner or simply looking to sharpen your skills, this class is designed to guide you through the essential techniques of royal icing decoration in a relaxed, creative, and celebratory atmosphere.

From flooding and outlining to wet-on-wet designs and fine detail work, you will leave with foundational skills and a box of stunning, holiday-inspired cookies to show for it.

In this class, you will:

• Learn how to prepare and properly consistency-test royal icing for outlining and flooding
• Practice piping clean borders and smooth, even flood fills
• Explore wet-on-wet techniques to create festive patterns and designs
• Decorate an assortment of six Christmas-themed cookies with a bright, summery July twist
• Discover tips for color mixing, troubleshooting, and storing your finished cookies

No experience is necessary — just bring your enthusiasm and your sweet tooth. All materials, tools, and cookie blanks are provided. You will leave with your decorated cookies packaged and ready to share (or keep all to yourself — we won't judge).

Meet Your Instructor:

Dawn Alston of Ravy Cakes, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, grew up in Northern Virginia where she started baking at the age of six. Dawn holds an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and has competed in many local baking events and in 2018 she competed on Food Network’s Wedding Cake Championship. All The Details:

• Age Level: 13+
• Skill Level: Beginner
• Each ticket includes 1 person
• All supplies and tools are provided for use during class.
• We will provide a box for each team to take your cookies home in
• The class may be a little messy so we recommend bringing an apron.
• If you have long hair, you may want to tie it back.
• Class requires a minimum of 4 students and there is a maximum of 12 students. In the event of insufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
• Class will run approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Please note that the class is hands-on and may run over or under schedule.

Cancellation Policy:

Changes and cancellations...we know life happens so we try our best to be flexible while being fair to our instructors who purchase supplies and bake for each student. Full refunds or credits are available for cancellations made at least 5 days prior to the class. If you need to cancel after 5 days but at least 48 hours in advance, we can offer you a credit for a future class. We cannot offer any credits for cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled class.
