Overview

Join us for a reflective retreat where school counselors can connect with peers and explore the complexities of counseling within a school.

This semi-annual retreat series provides a dedicated environment for school counselors to engage in deep-dive clinical reflection and peer consultation. Participants will have an opportunity to address the core psychological and ethical complexities of the field. Areas of focus include:

  • Managing the unique ethical tensions that arise when maintaining clinical confidentiality within a non-clinical school environment.
  • Strategic discernment in identifying "the client" within a school system.
  • Addressing countertransference, mitigating compassion fatigue, and developing sustainable self-care
  • Considering the impact of the current political climate on the school
  • Collaborating and sharing what’s working and brainstorming solutions

Participants will:

  • Understand the systemic complexities of identifying "the client"
  • Enhance clinical self awareness
  • Practice peer consultation allowing for honest clinical reflection
  • Develop sustainable self care plan to mitigate burn out
