We unite people to protect, promote, and care for the forest preserves in Cook County. Founded in 1998 by a small group of concerned citizens, Friends is now a force of thousands of committed volunteers and members. Through political advocacy, ecological restoration, and community engagement, we ensure the forest preserves will always be a source of recreation and relaxation.

Ever wondered what there is to do at your local forest preserve? Join your community in learning about Dan Ryan Woods in a variety of activities, including:🌿 Calming nature walks to learn about the plants, animals, and history of the site🎨 Tie-dye using natural materials from plants (all materials provided)🌭 Free food and drinks throughout the event🌲 A brush cutting demonstration and practice session to teach you the skills to remove invasive tree and shrub species🎵 Music throughout the event📣 An information table to learn about free programs, volunteer opportunities, and other offerings from both Friends of the Forest Preserves and Forest Preserves of Cook County This event is free and open to all ages!
