What if you ran out of water on your hike? Do you know where to find more? Do you know what’s safe to drink and what needs to be treated? Do you carry too much water because you're afraid you might run out? This class addresses these concerns and students come away with complete confidence in water treatment.
There are many options to convert water from streams, lakes, and elsewhere into drinking water. In fact, the dizzying number of ways to treat water, and when to use which, can be confusing. This class goes over these options, but more importantly, we’ll give you one best way and one backup way to be completely confident treating and drinking water on your hikes. So much so, that on their hikes our students end up bringing home as much water as they brought. They just drink from the cold clear streams they come across with complete confidence they processed perfectly safe drinking water. You will also gain an understanding of why we’re treating water, what can harm us, and the hazards of not treating water. If you are tentative about drinking water in the woods, you will walk away with a completely different outlook. Everyone in this class drinks their own filtered and treated drinking water!
