The use of unmanned aircraft in law enforcement, search and rescue, and disaster response continues to expand rapidly. With that expansion comes a growing need for qualified operators who can pass the FAA Part 107 knowledge exam or meet the aeronautical knowledge requirements to operate under a public Certificate of Authorization or Waiver (COA/Waiver).
This live, instructor-led course is delivered in two sessions over two consecutive days, approximately four hours each day. It is designed as a structured prep course covering the core knowledge areas of the FAA Part 107 exam, with focused instruction on the topics most students find challenging.
Note: Students should plan to complete additional independent study before sitting for the exam.

Your Instructor: Deputy Michael Kleinfelt, Orange County Sheriff’s Office
UAS Coordinator and Training Michael Kleinfelt brings 22 years of law enforcement experience to this course, beginning his career with Lake County Sheriff’s Office before joining Orange County Sheriff’s Office in 2005. Throughout his career he has served in mounted patrol, SWAT, Youth Services as a school resource officer, sex crimes, and on an FDLE task force. He currently serves as his agency’s drone coordinator and trainer.
In 2010, Deputy Kleinfelt was named the Florida Sheriffs Association Deputy Sheriff of the Year for the State of Florida. He is an avid drone pilot with over 10 years of experience in drone photography and operates Windermere Photography outside of his role with OCSO.
