How to we get to the Vernal Ponds?

Accepted Answer

Park at Sorenson Recreation Area. Enter the forest near the playscape and pavilion, down the stairs, turn left (south), hike down the trail... as approaching Warren Road, follow the signs into the forest, off the trail, towards (42.3432311, -83.2461977). 1/3 mile hike from the parking lot.

How accessible is the space?

Accepted Answer

This trail  is accessible via hike one must walk down some old rock trails down into the flood plain. There may be mud or slippery conditions in a few places as the soil is largely clay.  The hike is a 1/3 of a mile to the ponds.

What sort of shelter or facilities will be available?

Accepted Answer

This event is 100% outdoors with no indoor facilities  available. There will be a bathroom at the Parking Lot near Sorenson.

Question 4

How should a volunteer dress and prepare?

Accepted Answer

Volunteers should dress for working outside in potentially warm or rainy even  temperatures. Dress in layers. Don't wear anything you wouldnt want getting dirty.

Question 5

What does the work entail?

Accepted Answer

Workdays will include clearing trail and cutting/ removing invasive shrubs  with hand tools. We would say this is  moderate physical work including lifting, bending over, pulling carrying shrubby debris. There are occasionally sugarbush tasks such as chopping wood or hauling sap.
