Earth Month Volunteer  Work Day at the EEC

Containing almost 30,000 acres of estuarine habitat, uplands, open water, mudflats, salt ponds, and salt marshes, including much of southern San Francisco Bay, Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge provides habitat for many wildlife.  Its purpose is to protect wildlife habitat for endangered species and migratory birds, and to offer opportunities for nature study. The Visitor Center and Nature Store in Fremont, is open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refugeis part of the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex and is administered by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. TheSan Francisco Bay Wildlife Societyis a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Friends group supporting the education, interpretation, and research activities of San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuges.

Volunteer Work Days at the Refuge

Volunteer events to do trail maintenance, habitat restoration, cleanups, and more at the Don Edwards SF Bay National Wildlife Refuge!

Help us with maintain and improve the habitat and trails at the Environmental Education Center at the Don Edwards SF Bay NWR! Activities may include removing invasive plants, picking up litter, or maintaining trails! All gloves and tools will be provided, so just make sure to dress comfortably and bring a can-do attitude.Please register and plan to arrive by 9:30am so we have enough time to check you in before we get started!Please note, volunteers under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.Other Considerations:<ul><li>We encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothing, long pants, warm layers, and sturdy closed-toe shoes - all that you don't mind getting a little dirty!</li><li>Restrooms will be available on-site in the form of an ADA-compliant portable toilet and hand-washing station.</li><li>We highly recommend that you bring a filled reusable water bottle to stay hydrated while reducing plastic pollution!</li><li>If you need any accommodations or would like to know more about volunteer hours, please reach out to watershedwatchers@sfbayws.org.</li></ul>This program is brought to you by the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society (SFBWS) and the U.S. Fish &amp; Wildlife Service with support from the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP).
