East Burkittsville Walking Tour
Discover one of western Maryland's best-preserved rural townscapes and learn about Burkittsville's unique history and architecture.
Discover the rich history and well preserved architecture of Burkittsville with a guided tour provided by South Mountain Heritage Society. Among the sites and stories featured on our East Burkittsville Walking Tour are the home of town founder Henry Burkitt, the shops of former cottage industries, the beautiful Union Cemetery, and views of the historic farmsteads that surround the village.
Admission is by donation (Suggested $10 per person). Please note that all tours will cover some elevation changes and varying paved and unpaved walking surfaces.
All tours begin at South Mountain Heritage Society, located at 3 East Main Street, Burkittsville, MD. Parking is available in the lot immediately next to the museum.
