Workshop Audience
Are you curious or passionate about social justice, and community building?
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced community worker, activist, volunteer, or professional in the non-profit space, this workshop will clearly identify the necessary ingredients for change in 2026 and beyond, and analyze effective social change, according to real world experiences and research.
Case studies will be presented and their effectiveness critically analyzed. You will learn effective activism strategies, the importance of interpersonal skills to sustain group harmony, how to develop an effective action plan for your group, and how to identify which approaches or tactics to use.
Bio of Facilitator
Salomeh Ahmadi, BHSc, MBA, is a professor, researcher, facilitator and consultant. She has founded grassroots groups, worked in the social sector, received funding, designed and led community initiatives, and educated others on civic engagement, and social justice issues for social and community service programs. Passionate about social justice, empowerment and wellness - she is an award winning community builder based in Toronto, Canada.
She has worked on: affordable housing, girls empowerment groups, youth development, newcomer research, strategic planning for coalitions/groups, training organizations, civic engagement, mental health, anti-Black racism among other topics.
Workshop Purpose
Participants will learn how to,

- Build influence and community through relationships and communication.
- Use modern tools strategically and effectively.
