Obelisks, urns, orbs and more! Learn about the history and meaning of memorial art at Elmwood.
Join us on Thursday, June 25 at 6 p.m. for an evening walking tour of memorial art and symbolism at Elmwood. If you've wondered about the history and meaning of obelisks, urns, lambs, hands, shrouds, orbs, columns, boulders, torches, and other common cemetery forms, motifs and materials, this tour is for you!
This walking tour will last about 90 minutes and will be held in most kinds of weather. Please check the forecast and come prepared! Most walking is on paved roads, but we will occasionally venture into the grass to get a closer look at some monuments.
Your guide for this tour is Amy Elliott Bragg, director of the Historic Elmwood Foundation.
