Learn more about and register for any of our natural resource-related classes and events, to pick up (or hone) skills on topics including safe insect controls, ecology and wildlife, marine habitats, recycling, composting, water resources, and much more.

Stroll through and learn about some of Sarasota County’s most beautiful and environmentally sensitive preserved lands, with in-person, interpretive walks guided by our UF/IFAS ecology and natural resources educator and other specialists.

Program: Ecology and Natural Resources

The Natural Resources Program offers programs to increase awareness of and connections to the county’s diverse natural resources, and to foster conservation practices that preserve the area’s natural capital.

***How to register:Please make 1 reservation only for your entire family. Register with the name and information of one adult who is attending, then choose the total number of adults and children attending in your group (including yourself) in the dropdown menus.Please do not create separate tickets or reservations for each person attending in your group. Minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian.Snakes come in many sizes and colors! Join a UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County educator for some family-friendly fun to learn all about Florida's fascinating serpent species, why snakes come in so many different colors, and how their colors and patterns can help you to identify them.Through a brief, interactive presentation and fun, engaging activities and art projects, families will learn about snakes’ special superpowers, how to identify some common snake species and distinguish between venomous and non-venomous species, and understand why snakes are so important in a healthy ecosystem.We hope that learning about snakes' cool adaptations and behaviors will help you appreciate these infamous creatures!This event will be held primarily indoors.
