Field Guide Friday: Sam's Point Ice Caves
On this four-mile, moderate adventure, we will look at and learn about the rocks that make up the Ice Caves
Join Becca Howe-Parisio, Environmental Educator, on a four-mile, moderate adventure, to look at rock formations, discuss geologic features and talk about all things sedimentary. We will not necessarily use a field guide for this program, but we’ll talk about different scientific papers that discuss the geology of the Shawangunk Mountains. Field Guide Friday is a monthly program, focusing on different topics as the seasons change. This program is suited for anyone who is old enough to read and is interested in learning how to use a book to identify plants, insects, and more. Participants must bring water and snacks and wear appropriate hiking shoes. Meet at the Sam’s Point Visitor Center. This is not a Shingle Gully hike.
