Onboarding is more than paperwork. It’s the first real impression your company makes, and it sets the tone for everything that follows. In this interactive session, Jane Fan will walk us through what a thoughtful, structured onboarding experience looks like in practice, breaking it down across four key phases: before day one, the first day, the first week, and the critical first 90 days. Then Tammy Rainey will open it up to the room! Through a lively crowdsourcing conversation, attendees will share ideas they’ve lived, heard about, or dream up on the spot. You’ll leave with a toolkit of practical onboarding ideas you can implement right away, plus a few big-picture ideas to aspire to.You'll leave with:<ul><li>Understand why a strong onboarding experience matters and its impact on retention, engagement, and performance.</li><li>Learn a proven onboarding framework organized around four key timeframes: pre-start, day one, week one, and the first 90 days.</li><li>Collect real-world, crowd-sourced onboarding ideas from peers that can be implemented immediately.</li><li>Identify at least one aspirational onboarding practice to work toward in your own organization.</li></ul>

With deep experience guiding organizations from startup through acquisition, she specializes in aligning people strategies with business goals, designing impactful rewards systems, and cultivating intentional cultures where growth is built into the infrastructure. Tammy has led through M&amp;A, culture transformations, and total rewards overhauls, earning executive trust through clarity, calm, and strategic insight. Formerly Vice President of People at Apixio and with prior roles at Magnit (formerly PRO Unlimited), she holds a BA in Psychology, Human Resources, and Business from Point Loma Nazarene University. Her expertise spans applicant tracking systems, technical recruiting, talent acquisition, employee relations, onboarding, and other related areas.
