Get to Know the Arboretum: Discover Hidden Rooms of the Zucker Shrub Garden
Join horticulturist Nicholas Polato to explore the rich diversity of plants in this unique series of garden "rooms."
Tucked away in the F.R. Newman Arboretum, the Zucker shrub collection & Harris Lilac walk are two hidden gems of the Cornell Botanic Gardens. Home to collections of Lilacs and Daylilies, these “garden rooms” are an inspiring place to view an array of small trees, shrubs, and ornamental grasses. The plants featured in each room include winter hardy exotics from around the world, as well as pollinator friendly natives selected for flowers, fruit, and foliage color. Learn how natural history and biocultural traditions shaped the stories of how these plants from around the globe found their place in our home gardens. Walk will be held rain or shine; please dress appropriately for the weather. Pre-registration required as space is limited.
Fee: $12 general admission; Free for Cornell Botanic Gardens Access Pass holders and Cornell Students.
Instructor: Nicholas Polato, Cornell Botanic Gardens Horticulturist
