<h3>Overview</h3><p>The GI-BMPs are a science-based educational program for Green Industry workers (lawn-care and landscape maintenance professionals), brought to you by UF-IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program.</p><p>This training is designed to provide corporate, governmental, environmental, and other personnel the Best Management Practices for lawn and landscape. Learn what impact the BMPs will have on your business or municipality.</p><p>MUST BRING YOUR ID (identification).</p><p>The GI-BMPs teach environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida’s ground and surface waters. They can also save the Florida homeowner money, time, and effort; increase the beauty of the home landscape; and protect the health of your family, pets, and the environment.</p><p>Lunch will be provided.</p><p><br></p><h3>Who Gets Trained in the GI-BMPs?</h3><p>Florida Statute 482.1562 states that all commercial fertilizer applicators must have a license from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) by January 1, 2014. To get this license, each Green Industry worker must be trained in the GI-BMPs and receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and FDEP. Additionally, many non-commercial Green Industry applicators or other workers are required to pass the training by the Seminole County Fertilizer ordinance or voluntarily participate in the program to better serve their clients.</p><h4>Attendees will receive:</h4><ul><li>Training in all major aspects of the GI-BMP manual.</li><li>A digital copy of the GI-BMP manual - Florida-Friendly Best Management Practices for Protection of Water Resources by the Green Industries. It is strongly recommended that you obtain and study this GI-BMP manual prior to attending class. The manual can be downloaded <a href="https://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/ffl-and-you/gi-bmp-program/gi-bmp-manual/" title="https://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/ffl-and-you/gi-bmp-program/gi-bmp-manual/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>.</li><li>Certificate of completion of training, if the post-test is passed.</li></ul><h4>FDACS CEUs:</h4><p>The GI-BMP in-person training has FDACS approval for 2 Core CEUs (482 and 487) and 2 additional CEUs for the following licenses:</p><ul><li>Private Applicator – Agriculture <em><em>* PENDING FDACS APPROVAL</em></em></li><li>Ornamental &amp; Turf  <em><em>* PENDING FDACS APPROVAL</em></em></li><li>Limited Lawn &amp; Ornamental  <em><em>* PENDING FDACS APPROVAL</em></em></li><li>Limited Landscape Maintenance</li><li>Commercial Lawn and Ornamental</li><li>Limited Commercial Fertilizer Applicator (Limited Urban Fertilizer)</li></ul><h4>FNGLA CEUs:</h4><p>Florida Nursery, Growers &amp; Landscape Association (FNGLA) offers 4 CEU's for attending the GI-BMP training program. Members may present a copy of the FDACS CEU form or the GI-BMP Training Certificate to FNGLA to receive CEU credit.</p><p><br></p><h3>Other Information</h3><h4>ADA Compliance</h4><p>In accordance with the Americans with Disability Act, if you require any type of an accommodation for an event sponsored by the University of Florida accommodation requests must be made at least 10 days in advance of the function. Call 407-665-5570 first to see if tickets are available for purchase or for class scholarship opportunities.</p><p><br></p><h4>Class Cancellation Policy</h4><p>Cancellation policy: Classes are subject to cancellation if a minimum number of attendees are not booked. If class is cancelled you will receive a notification, and a refund confirmation to the e-mail that is provided during the registration process. Refunds for class cancellations may take up to 30 days to process if registration fee is paid by cash or check.</p>
