Guided Cemetery Tours: Rediscover the Past
Park rangers will offer historical context and share information that has been uncovered through the ongoing research of the cemetery.
Tucked away in a shady grove of forest, the park's historic cemetery holds the graves of an estimated 70 people...what do we know about their lives, and what remains a mystery? While most of the graves are unmarked, three headstones show the names of loved ones longs since passed: Alpheus Hudson, Reverend Samuel Jasper, and Toney Funn.
Park rangers will be at the cemetery from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., offering guided tours every 30 minutes and sharing information that has been uncovered through ongoing research. The cemetery road will be open from dawn to dusk, allowing you to drive and park directly next to the cemetery. Total walking distance from the cemetery parking area through the cemetery is approximately 1/10th of a mile on a flat, shaded trail.
Directions: Drive straight into the park and keep going straight on the main road toward River Bend Campground. Turn right onto the dirt road at the intersection where the campground road meets the main road.
