Happy Hour on the Plaza: Line Dancing

The Parks at Walter Reed is a 66-acre redevelopment of the historic Walter Reed Army Medical Center, featuring multiple outdoor event areas on campus that are inviting, accessible,  and second to none in Ward 4. Anchored by the Great Lawn, the campus also boasts an Arts Plaza with a pergola stage and string lights. In addition, the 10,000-square-foot West Lot adjacent to the historic hospital provides an urban hardscape space that’s a perfect stage for projections, theater productions, festivals, and more. Additionally, a brand-new playground is conveniently located just 200 yards from the Arts Plaza and Great Lawn. The site is easily accessible by public transportation: 13 Georgia Avenue bus lines pass The Parks on 16th Street and Georgia Avenue NW, and the Takoma Metro Station is just a 13-minute walk.The Great Lawn, Arts Plaza, West Lot, and Playground are all ADA-accessible and compliant. The campus also offers ADA-compliant outdoor portable restrooms.

Happy Hour is back, so come out for dancing and mingling on the Marketplace Plaza! Join us on Friday evenings once a month for a fun theme and good times. The event is free, with beverages to purchase (so don’t forget to bring a friend; furry friends welcome). You can pop into Whole Foods Market or JINYA Ramen Bar for some bites as well. July 18Line DancingJoin us for a super fun happy hour to learn new line dances as well as dip and twist to your old favorites like the electric slide and macarena! Our favorite instructor Orlando will be teaching and leading along with our resident DJ Harry Hotter! Beer and wine will be available for purchase. September 580’s Soul and PopJoin us for a fun 1980s-themed happy hour filled with the best of pop and soul from the decade of big hair, bold fashion, and unforgettable grooves. It’s the perfect mix of smooth soul and high-energy pop to kick back, dance a little, and relive the magic of the '80s. DJ Harry Hotter will be on the controls and beer and wine will be available for purchase. Oct 10DC LoveCelebrate the sounds of the District at our D.C. Music Happy Hour, featuring a curated mix of iconic tracks born right here in the nation's capital. From the unmistakable bounce of GoGo legends like Chuck Brown and Rare Essence to the smooth soul of Marvin Gaye and the edgy punk of the 9:30 Club era, this event pays tribute to the rich and diverse musical heritage of Washington, D.C.
