History Hike: Martin & Schilling
Midpen guided activities are led by trained volunteer docent naturalists. All are welcome.
Discover the natural and cultural history of this small yet diverse preserve on a leisurely-paced hike with Docent Naturalists Bobbie Riedel and Nick Yatsko. You’ll wander beneath the shade of redwoods on the new Rock of the Ages Trail in search of historic landmarks and head down the Bridle Trail to enjoy the small pools of Dennis Martin Creek. As you explore, you’ll hear stories of the two men, Dennis Martin and August Schilling, who impacted this landscape in the late 1800s and through the early 20th century. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after May 28 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close June 10 at 2:00 p.m.
