HORT/CULTURE: Gotham Coyote Project + Lady Pink
An evening of territorial pissings in the wonderful West Room.
Like all cities, New York is made up of many layers – figuratively and literally – with all creatures leaving their distinctive mark in one form or another on this baffling hellscape.
Join us as we explore various forms of territorial demarcation throughout NYC with the Gotham Coyote Project and OG New York graffiti artist Lady Pink, followed by a screening of the classic documentary film Style Wars.
Gotham Coyote Project is a collaboration of several organizations, institutions, and partners dedicated to studying the ecology of the northeastern coyote in New York City.
Sandra Fabara, better known as Lady Pink, is an Ecuadorian-American graffiti and mural artist. She is internationally recognized for her involvement in the burgeoning New York City graffiti movement of the late 1970s and 1980s.
Style Wars is a 1983 documentary film directed by Tony Silver and Henry Chalfant that documents the emergence of the graffiti movement in New York city in the late 1970s.
