Join a ranger on a free guided walk to learn about Holyrood Park's geology and how it inspired pioneering local geologist, James Hutton, to re-think the age and nature of Earth

Event: Hutton’s SecretsTime: 13:00-15:30, Walk duration is approx. 2 hours with extra time allocated for delays.Meeting Place: Broad Pavement Car Park, Queen's Drive. Postcode: EH8 8AZ. Meeting point is next to the entrance of the car park on the grass verge opposite the car park kiosk.Please see the map below.FREE EVENTDescription: Celebrate 300 years since the birth of James Hutton, one of geology's most important figures. Come along on a guided walk to learn more about the important geological features of Holyrood Park that inspired James Hutton to radically re-think the age and nature of the Earth.Age: This walk may not be suitable for children under 12 years.Grade: ModerateRoute: Hunter’s Bog/Volunteers’ Walk/Camstane/Hutton's Section area. This may change.Bring: Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink.Toilets: Toilets are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself.Parking: Broad Pavement Car Park (off Queen's Drive, next to Holyrood Palace). Parking charges are £1 per hour. Charges apply 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays).
