Intro to Backpacking Class

Here you will find our events, LIVE MUSIC, ART, YOGA and classes to LISTEN, LEARN and GROW.   Some are hosted at Compass Point home of Dirty Girl Adventures at 800 N. Kansas Ave. in NOTO the Arts and Entertainment District in Topeka, Kansas.  Other events are held throughout Northeast Kansas, these include hiking, kayaking, backpacking and camping adventures.

Hiking  and Backpacking Adventures

Guided hiking and backpacking events ranging from 2 miles to 30 miles on local trails and beyond.  We maintain a no judgement policy and welcome you as you are we leave no Dirty Girl Behind!   Choose the event that fits your experience and fitness level.

<p>Join Compass Point, home of Dirty Girl Adventures, for an informational class about backpacking. We will discuss the basics you need to transition from day hiking to backpacking. Our focus will be on safety, self-sufficiency, and minimal impact we'll cover the following topics:</p><h4>1. Gear &amp; Equipment</h4><h4>2. Backcountry Kitchen</h4><h4>3. Navigation &amp; Trip Planning</h4><h4>4. Safety &amp; Ethics</h4><h4>5. Clothing &amp; Layering</h4><p>We will also share suggestions for local trails that would provide a good first experience. Participants will leave with a good understanding of backpacking gear, backpacking tips, and safety, ranging from beginner to more advanced, including a basic gear list to take home.</p><p>The class will allow for questions and discussion.</p><h4><strong><strong>Class time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm</strong></strong></h4><h4><strong><strong>Class Fee: $25</strong></strong></h4><h4><strong><strong>If you already have backpacking gear, feel free to pack it up and bring it.
