The Friends of the Fells need volunteers to help in a wide variety of ways. Check out these events to get involved as a volunteer today!

Difficulty: Easy/Moderate, with some rocky terrain; Beginners are welcome!What will you do?Join Friends of the Fells on Fridays at Greenwood Park to monitor and manage invasive plant species that threaten the valuable Fells ecosystem. We will use hand-pulling and manual tools to remove aggressive plant species such as Glossy buckthorn, Multiflora rose, Asiatic bittersweet, Porcelain berry, and more which outcompete local flora and fauna. Additionally, we will map the spread and effects of volunteer removal of invasive plants using the <a href="https://www.anecdata.org/projects/view/1155/about" title="https://www.anecdata.org/projects/view/1155/about" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Earthwise Aware Invasive Flora Patrol</a> project and <a href="https://www.anecdata.org/" title="https://www.anecdata.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Anecdata</a> mobile app and website. All experience levels are welcome! Suitable for ages 12 and up.This event will be held at Greenwood Park in Stoneham (<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/SHMUWVfh5KXTzBR19" title="https://maps.app.goo.gl/3DCoovEp5gN8pz3W6" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Google Maps location here</a>). Parking is available at the Greenwood Park parking lot (<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/SHMUWVfh5KXTzBR19" title="https://maps.app.goo.gl/52rqgf4wYCsB1hux7" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Google Maps location here</a>). We'll hike about two minutes into the woods to our site. Please bring a hat, sunscreen, your own reusable water bottle, and a snack, if you would like one. We recommend wearing sturdy shoes, warm gloves, long sleeves, long socks, and long pants to help prevent poison ivy or tick exposure.
