Welcome to The Dance Experiment — Come Dance With Us!
Most mornings start the same:
Alarm. Phone. Coffee. Lots of thoughts about your day — and breakfast if you make the time for it! Not exactly the most uplifting way to start the day.
The Dance Experiment offers a different option:
It began when Kula Cloth founder Anastasia Allison wondered what would happen if she danced a little bit every day. She didn’t have a goal — she just wanted to see what would happen. If we're being honest, it kinda started as a joke.
However, after two weeks of daily dancing, she noticed something interesting — she felt lighter and happier. So, she kept going and decided to invited others to join her in Zoom. What started as a joke, turned into a morning routine that brings people together from around the world to dance... EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!
That's right, for over four years now, we've been meeting every morning in Zoom to dance together — no choreography, no pressure, no right or wrong way to dance, no expectations — just music and some very creative playlists!
What the Zoom session looks like
• A quick check-in and hello
• A brief guided meditation to get out of our heads
• Approximately 25 minutes of free-form dancing to incredible playlists
No need for rhythm. No need for dance experience.
You don’t even have to turn your camera on.
People say it wakes them up better than coffee, boosts their mood, and sets a playful tone for the rest of their day.
Join us and see what changes when you dance a little bit every day. We promise... it doesn't matter if you join us in your pajamas, a pair of sweats or completely dressed for work.
Why Do We Do This?
Because science says it’s good for us:
- Dancing = better brain health
- Meditation is good for the soul
- Doing both = a shockingly wonderful way to start the day
Did I mention we’ve been doing this for over four years? Yep... and it's still fun!
Who’s Behind This Crazy Little Experiment?
You Can Thank Anastasia Allison — she started the Dance Experiment and also founded a company called Kula Cloth (which, admittedly, doesn’t sound like it should lead to morning dance parties… and yet here we are).
Thank Allison Tapert — she adds this event to the Kula Calendar every single month.
Thank our Joy Facilitators — Amanda, Beth, Bonnie, Chizuko, Courtney, and Molly — for proving over and over that everyday deserves dancing.
