Overview

Join us for an evening hosted by Dr. Denguhlanga, where attendees take center stage as headliners, sharing poetry, comedy, and spoken words.

Get ready for an evening of laughter, creativity, and community! Whether you're stepping up to the mic or cheering from the audience, this is a welcoming space to express yourself and connect with others.

Hosted by Dr. Denguhlanga through the partnership between Homage to Black Excellence and the Edison Branch of the Detroit Public Library, this Juneteenth Week Open Mic Comedy & Poetry Night welcomes community voices through comedy, poetry, and celebration.

Performers of all experience levels are encouraged to participate—bring your best jokes, heartfelt verses, or creative storytelling. Prefer to just listen? Sit back, relax, and enjoy an inspiring lineup of talent.
