Does this program offer Service Learning hours?

Accepted Answer

Junior Rangers have the ability to earn service learning hours. However, spots are in high demand, and we ask that only teens with a genuine interest in nature and a willingness to get their hands dirty apply. Volunteer hours are not awarded just for showing up; active participation is expected.

Question 2

Can I drop my child off early or pick up later?

Accepted Answer

No, we do not have staff for before or after care. Please be on time when dropping off; we often work a distance from the main building and need to head out promptly to have adequate travel time. If you know you are going to be late or your child will be absent one day, let staff know

Do you have a cell phone policy?

Accepted Answer

Please communicate with your child to make sure they know what to expect when they get here. Upon arrival, we will collect cell phones to be locked safely in our office during class. Rest assured, you will still be able to get in touch with your kids in an emergency, or if they need to reach you.

Question 4

What should my child bring?

Accepted Answer

Junior Rangers should bring a reusable water bottle, shoes suitable for hiking, clothes that can get dirty, and work gloves if they have them (we have gloves we can loan out but sizes are hit-or-miss). We work off-trail often; long pants are a recommended tick-prevention measure.
