We unite people to protect, promote, and care for the forest preserves in Cook County. Founded in 1998 by a small group of concerned citizens, Friends is now a force of thousands of committed volunteers and members. Through political advocacy, ecological restoration, and community engagement, we ensure the forest preserves will always be a source of recreation and relaxation.

Ever wondered what there is to do at your local forest preserve? Join your community in learning about Kickapoo Woods in a variety of activities, including:🌿 Calming nature walks to learn about the plants, animals, and history of the site💃 Instructor-led line dancing to songs like "Boots on the Ground", "Cupid Shuffle", "Not Like Us" &amp; more!🌭 Free food and drinks throughout the event🌸 Native seed collecting, a low-intensity activity to explore the beautiful prairie and learn plant identification🥋 Tai-chi, a practice to reduce stress and improve physical health, led by Mia Park📣 An information table to learn about free programs, volunteer opportunities, and other offerings from both Friends of the Forest Preserves and Forest Preserves of Cook County🎵 Music throughout the event This event is free and open to all ages!
