Enjoy an outdoor sketching field trip along the beautiful Kaw River
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon exploring and sketching our beautiful Kansas (Kaw) River along the historic levee. We will meet at 1pm at the parking lot on the north side of the river, across the street from the historic train station. From there we will stroll along the levee to the East, scanning the landscape for the perfect composition. Walk down to the river's edge and mudlark a bit, sketch the natural landscape and collect a smooth stone or a weathered stick to remind you of this day. Participants will be provided with a take home kit containing all the materials needed enjoy and document our our beautiful riverine landscape: nature sketching tips, water color paper, clip board, 15 color paint set, water brush and art pen.
Around 2:45 pm we will return to our cars and meet up at my air-conditioned studio (721 E. 9th) for light snacks and refreshments. Here I will teach you Japanese Stab Style book binding to collect all your sketches into a small book.
Wear suitable walking shoes, bring a sun hat, sun screen and a water bottle to the Levee Field Trip meetup.
Class begins at the parking lot at the corner of US Highway 59 and Locust Street in North Lawrence at 1 pm.
