Libraries Love Lakes: Little Cranberry Lake Loop
Libraries love lakes, and so do the Friends of the ACFL!
Libraries love lakes, and so do the Friends of the ACFL! Throughout the month of July, we are partnering with the Anacortes Library and Skagit County Public Works to celebrate the lakes of Fidalgo Island. Join us as we tread on trails less-travelled and learn why these lakes are the backbone of our community forest lands.
This Wednesday, we start our celebration by circumnavigating Little Cranberry Lake! Originally a low lying cranberry bog, today the Little Cranberry Lake watershed plays host to a diverse cast of wetland and upland habitats. Since this hike is longer and goes over more varied terrain than our usual programs, hiking poles are recommended.
Want to appreciate the lakes of the ACFL on your own time? Head over to the Anacortes Library or Forest Discovery Center for guided hike recommendations, scavenger hunts, and more!
