Lowell Preserve Dig Day w/Gorham Bike & Ski
Join Greater Portland NEMBA and Gorham Bike & Ski to do some critical finishing work on the new Odyssey trail in Lowell + group ride & BBQ
The new Odyssey XC trail in Lowell Preserve -- the longest trail Greater Portland NEMBA has built to date -- has been a huge hit, and the result of a great collaboration with Presumpscot Regional Land Trust & the Town of Windham. But as with any new trail, there's still some finishing work to do to really dial it in. Join GPNEMBA and Gorham Bike & Ski to do this critical finishing work and make Odyssey really shine & ride its best.
We'll gather at the Lowell Preserve parking lot in Windham (where the fire house & ball field are) at 10:00 on Sunday, June 14th and bike about a mile into the work site at the southern end of Odyssey before splitting into groups. This day we'll be:
- Filling & raising the trail tread at low spots that are holding water
- Improving drainage & outsloping so the trail better sheds water
- Cutting roots, dispersing debris, and blending the trail better into the surrounding forest
- Adjusting several rollers along the trail to ride better
- Removing trail markers on several old trails that are now closed
Once we're done (between 1-2 pm), we'll break for a special group ride followed by a BBQ hosted by our friends at Gorham Bike & Ski.
Come join and help us really dial in this new trail!
**Bring your bike so we can get into the work site more quickly/efficiently
