This collection contains events related to all things Florida-Friendly. Join us for tips to support pollinators, save water outdoors, create a sustainable landscape, and much more!

Gardens, Lawns, and Landscapes

This collection contains workshops that focus on your central Florida yard. From lawns to vegetable gardens, tree care to composting. We have workshops to help you successfully manage your landscape and lawn as well as grow your own edible plants.

Join UF/IFAS Extension Polk County and Haines City Water Utilities to dig into the beauty and benefits of groundcovers! Discover how these low-growing plants can reduce maintenance, conserve water, and add texture and color to your landscape. Whether you're replacing turfgrass or enhancing your garden beds, we’ll cover Florida-friendly selections that thrive in sun, shade, or anywhere in between. Learn practical tips for planting, care, and design to create a lush, sustainable landscape from the ground up.Registration is preferred and seating is limited. Lunch is included for pre-registered, in-person participants that are registered by November 12, 2025. Anyone registering after that is welcome to attend, but may not be provided lunch.Workshop is presented by UF/IFAS Extension Polk County and Haines City Water Utilities.If any accommodations are needed, please contact Julie Schelb at 863-519-1041 or j.schelb@ufl.edu.
