Join returning guest teacher Danny Childs, author of the James Beard Award-winning book “Slow Drinks,” for a livestream class where you’ll start a batch of seasonal liqueur that will be ready for holiday sipping, mixing and gifting. Danny will start by explaining what to look for in a good maple syrup, busting some myths about cranberry bogs and sharing the rich history of apple brandy in America. Then, you’ll see how time, patience and good technique will turn those three ingredients—and little else—into an excellent liqueur. You’ll learn how to make a tincture and judge when it has infused properly. We’ll cover the math of dilution so that you always know the ABV of your final product. And you’ll practice sweetening with sugar, honey or maple syrup according to your liking. The result is a an infinitely shelf-stable product that will be a great addition to your next Negroni or Spritz—or in the cranberry-apple cocktail that Danny will teach you to make in class.
