Overview

Join us for Make Yourself Herd – a fun, hands-on equine coaching experience that’ll boost your confidence!

A horse always knows when you're not really listening.

So does everyone you work with. The difference is the horse will show you in about four seconds, and your team has been too polite to mention it for years.

Here's the uncomfortable part. You think you're a good listener. Almost everybody does. And almost everybody is wrong. You nod, you wait for your turn to talk, you already know what they're going to say so you start loading your response before they finish. That is not listening. That is taking turns making noise.

It costs you more than you think. The conversation that goes sideways for no reason. The instruction you gave twice that still got done wrong. The person on your team who went quiet three meetings ago and you never noticed. You keep repeating yourself and wondering why nothing lands.

You cannot fix that by trying harder to listen. You have been trying hard your whole career. The problem is not effort. It is that you cannot see your own pattern, and the people around you have learned to work around it instead of naming it.

That is where the horse comes in.

A horse does not care about your title, your resume, or how well you can talk your way through a room. Horses read energy, not words. They respond to who you actually are in the moment, not who you are performing to be. That makes a 1,200-pound animal the most honest communication coach you will ever stand in front of. When you are scattered, it shows. When you are present, it shows. There is no faking it, and there is no hiding from it.

What actually happens on July 20th

You will spend three and a half hours at Ember Ridge Equestrian Center on the coast in Moss Beach. Not riding horses. Working with them, and working on the two skills that decide every relationship you have at work.

First, you'll learn to read anyone in the room. There are four communication styles, and once you can spot them you will never un-see them. None is better or worse. The skill is knowing your own default, recognizing theirs, and flexing so they can actually hear you. This one framework will change how you run your next ten conversations.

Second, you'll learn to listen so well people trust you. A simple three-step practice: tune in and kill the distractions, get genuinely curious instead of assuming you already know, and reflect back what you heard so the other person knows it landed. It sounds basic. Almost nobody does it. The ones who do are the people everyone wants to work for.

Then you'll take it to the horses. This is where it stops being a concept and becomes something in your body. You will work with the herd through guided exercises that surface your communication pattern instantly. Your style shows up the second you walk up to the animal. So does whether you are actually listening or just running your script. The horse reflects it back with zero judgment and zero ego, and that is when the real learning happens.

No horse experience needed. Zero. The horses do the teaching.

What you leave with

  • The ability to read anyone's communication style and adjust on the spot so your message actually gets through
  • A dead-simple deep listening practice you can use in your very next conversation
  • Real insight into how you come across under pressure, not what you think, what the horse showed you
  • A printed take-home workbook to keep the practice going on your own
  • A morning of doing something most people never will, with a small group of professionals who showed up to do the work

Who this is for

  • Leaders and managers who are tired of repeating themselves and want their words to land the first time
  • Business owners who know a single misread conversation can cost a client, a hire, or a deal
  • Anyone who works closely with other people and senses they are missing something in how they connect
  • People who learn by doing, not by sitting through another webinar

Who this is NOT for

  • People who want a fun petting-zoo morning with horses. This is real work.
  • People not willing to be honest with themselves for three and a half hours

The proof

"The exercises with the horse showed me where I'm still hesitant in my own life." — Christina H. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Many aha moments. I would 100% recommend." — Tera S. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Your investment

Three and a half hours of guided coaching and hands-on horse work with two facilitators, a printed workbook, coffee, tea, snacks, and all equipment provided.

$129 Early Bird. $149 after July 6th.

Compare that to one misread conversation that loses you a client or a good employee, and the math is not close.

Only 6 seats

We cap it at six on purpose. This work does not happen in a crowd, and the horses can only hold so much at once. When they are gone, they are gone. Last time they were claimed in days.

Reserve your seat now, before the early bird closes.

YOUR FACILITATORS

Ranger Kielak is a leadership coach and SBDC consultant based in Half Moon Bay. In 2024 he walked 2,642 miles across America and learned that leadership is not about knowing more, it is about who you become when everything gets stripped away. He blends regenerative agriculture principles with practical coaching frameworks to help people stop extracting from themselves and start leading from who they actually are.

Joan Brennan is an equine-partnered coach and founder of Leading with Horses on the San Mateo County Coast. She has spent years facilitating transformational experiences with horses, helping people reach what traditional coaching cannot. Her approach is intuitive, grounded, and disarmingly effective.
