We unite people to protect, promote, and care for the forest preserves in Cook County. Founded in 1998 by a small group of concerned citizens, Friends is now a force of thousands of committed volunteers and members. Through political advocacy, ecological restoration, and community engagement, we ensure the forest preserves will always be a source of recreation and relaxation.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and we hope to see you all very soon.--------------- 📍Kickapoo Woods Forest Preserve Halsted St, south of W 144th St. 📆 May 23, 2026 11AM-3PM Join Friends of the Forest Preserves and Light of Loving Kindness for an invigorating day at Kickapoo Woods to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month! This event is perfect for families, friends, and anyone wanting to enjoy the springtime in perfect fashion! Activties will include:🧘‍♂️ A calming yoga session in nature 🌼 Light stewardship activities including pulling of invasive plant species (gloves and an introduction to plant identification will be provided) 🥑 An informative talk about mindful eating hosted by Queen Prophecy 📔 A social hour to practice nature journaling, meet other attendees, enjoy snacks, and more! This event is free and welcome to all! Note: These activities may not all be happening at once; arrival after 11AM will not ensure participation in all activities.
