Join us at Contemporary Craft for one of our 8-part series workshops to build your fundamental craft skills.

8-Week WorkshopDate: Thursdays, September 11-October 30, 2025Time: 6pm-9pmDescription: Learn to design and construct your own jewelry and other small objects in metal. You will be introduced to a range of metalsmithing basics such as:<ul><li>Basic metalsmithing skills of sawing, piercing, filing, and sanding,</li><li>Basic cold connections of flat and tube rivets</li><li>How to use a torch to anneal and solder metal</li><li>Patinas and metal finishing options</li><li>Elements and principles of design</li></ul>Tuition: $295 + $50 materials feeMaterials: All materials will be providedWe really want you to join us in the studio! If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.ANY WORKSHOP OR INDIVIDUAL SESSION CANCELLATIONS WILL BE COMMUNICATED VIA EMAIL.Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. About the ArtistKathryn Shriver is a visual artist from Western New York, now based in Pittsburgh. She uses metalwork, glass bead weaving, and the materials of home décor to explore perceptions of artistry and self-expression through the lens of her rural, working-class background. Kathryn holds an MFA in Painting &amp; Drawing from Concordia University (Montreal). Her work has been shown across the US and Canada and she’s participated in residency programs at the Vermont Studio Center, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, and Contemporary Craft, among others.
