Moth Night at Cumberland Marsh

Moth Night at Cumberland Marsh

Cumberland Marsh Natural Area PreserveNew Kent, VA
Overview

Join The Nature Conservancy at Cumberland Marsh Preserve and experience the wonder of nighttime pollinators! We will set up a moth-attracting station and attempt to identify our visitors. Please feel free to bring a camping chair or picnic blanket to make yourself comfortable. We will have beverages and light snacks!

Mary Lincoln, a local moth expert, will join us to share her expertise and answer questions about moths and butterflies. Mary is a Master Naturalist who specializes in the fields of entomology and mycology. She is currently an interpretive ranger at Powhatan State Park, and prior to that spent several years working with the tropical butterfly exhibit at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Moths and their life cycle have long been a passion of hers, and she has raised over 50 species of native caterpillars.
