It's Complicated: Venus Meets the Malefics

The interaction of Venus with the malefics is often viewed as difficult terrain — combinations that are often seen as a source of pain or an obstacle to overcome. Yet intense pressure can also forge something valuable. This presentation will explore each of these specific Venus pairings, detailing both the potential pitfalls and the inherent strengths, and offering guidance on how to work with these challenging combinations, transforming them from shadow into potent medicine.

From Problem to Paradox: Integrating the Six Oppositions

What if the zodiac isn’t asking us to choose between opposites, but to hold them at the same time? This talk reframes the six pairs of zodiac oppositions as relational paradoxes that every relationship must straddle, rather than problems to solve. Drawing on Relational Dialectics Theory, each axis becomes a dynamic tension to manage. When we integrate these oppositions rather than alternate between them, we strengthen our relational intelligence and skills. Through a queer, both/and lens, participants will learn how to work with these tensions in real time, bringing greater flexibility, clarity, and relational depth into their astrological practice.

What’s Old is New Again: Love in the Time of Prorogation

Prorogation, also known as Aphesis or Primary Directions, is an ancient traditional method of life prediction based on diurnal motion. This talk will focus on assessing the celestial longitude and latitude-dependent rising points of ascension in relation to the natal placement of the love planet Venus. We will note when Venus directs to angular placements over time and what occurs in the love life. This technique is useful for forecasting significant relationship events or evolving relationship dynamics, as well as for reviewing past timing and the nature of relationship developments.
