Nervous About Public Speaking? You're Not Alone. (Come Practice With Us)
Weekly public speaking and leadership practice with a friendly, supportive group — in person at College of San Mateo or online via Zoom.
That presentation at work. The wedding toast. The meeting where you stayed quiet when you had something to say.
We've all been there. The good news? Public speaking is a skill, not a talent — and skills can be practiced.
Promasters Toastmasters has been helping people find their voice since 1999. Every Thursday morning, we gather for one hour to practice speaking, give each other feedback, and build confidence in a low-pressure environment. No grades. No judgment. Just supportive people who remember what it felt like to be nervous.
What to expect as a guest:
- Watch our members give short speeches and practice impromptu speaking
- See how we give constructive, encouraging feedback
- Meet people from all walks of life and many parts of the world
- Leave with energy for the rest of your week
Who shows up: Our 25+ members range from their early 20s to 60+, from career professionals polishing presentation skills to people working through a lifelong fear of speaking up. Some are preparing for specific goals — a TED talk, a job interview, a best man speech. Others just want to get more comfortable in meetings.
The early bird gets the confidence: Yes, 7:30 AM sounds early. But there's something about starting your day by doing something that scares you a little. You'll be done by 8:30 and riding that energy straight through Friday.
Join us in person or online — we run a hybrid meeting so you can participate from anywhere.
