Whether they are an amputee, visually impaired, suffer from PTS (post traumatic stress), or have quadriplegia. Whether they served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf war, Iraq or Afghanistan. Whether they are an autistic child or a young woman who has lost a limb to cancer, AmpSurf™ offers a unique program to bring the healing power of the ocean and adaptive surfing together for an experience that is both mentally and physically one of the best forms of rehabilitation on the planet.Our goal is simple, we want to help our disabled veterans, adults and children focus on their abilities not their disabilities. We have served hundreds of our disabled veteran American heroes as well as disabled adults and children who probably never would have had this experience if it hadn’t been for our program.Para Surf League™/ PLS™MISSION -Para Surf League™ / PSL™is a division of AmpSurf established toPromote,Inspire,Educate, andRehabilitate (PIER) Adaptive/ Para Surfing athletes and events around the world for all people with disabilities.WHO WE SUPPORT -Contests and athletes engaged in the promotion and establishment of para surfing contest around the globe.Our goal is simple, we want to help establish a series of contests with partners around the globe to give adaptive athletes a platform to excel at adaptive/para surfing on a world class level.HOW WE DO IT -For over 19 years AmpSurf™ has been providing our Learn to Surf clinics to serve those who need us and supporting adaptive surfers and contests  around the world from regional and national events to the World Para Surfing Championships in 2020, ' 21, and '22.  The Para Surf League™/PSL™ has been created to organize and run the contests program and separate the responsibilities of  AmpSurf™ into two distinct programs focused on those served by each. the PSL™ focus will be primarily on athlete and contest development, while AmpSurf™ will primarily focus on teaching those with disabilities, Veterans and First Responders how to surf and do other outdoor activities.Contact email: surf@ampsurf.org

Our Certified Adaptive Surf Instructor course has been developed over many years of providing  adaptive learn to surf clinics as a way to ensure that our instructors can deliver adaptive surf lessons to a wide variety of individuals.

<h2>Ready to use your stoke to take those we serve to the next level?????</h2><p>Adaptive Surfing and Surf Therapy is growing around the world as an effective way to rehabilitate from mental health, physical disabilities and injuries. As Surf Therapy continues to grow it is important that any instructor entering the water have knowledge of what challenges different disabilities present and how to adapt to make sure that the experience is safe and positive. The classroom (online) portion of the training will cover various disabilities and how to create a positive and safe experience for the participant athletes taking part in Surf Therapy. Everything learned in the classroom is put into practice in beach training and evaluation.</p><ul><li><strong><strong>Classroom sessions are for 4 Hours each day, over 2 days.</strong></strong></li><li><strong><strong>Beach training and assessment will be schedule by location (NE, NY, CA, PNW, PR), or can be submitted via video, or you can have our staff come to you (transportation and lodging must be covered).</strong></strong></li><li><strong><strong>Ocean/Surf experience is highly recommended (ability to show Ocean and surfing capability is required)</strong></strong></li><li><strong><strong>You must be at least 16 years old</strong></strong></li></ul><p>Topics Included in the training:</p><ul><li>Working with individuals with Post-Traumatic Stress and other mental health and physical disabilities including but not limited to: autism, amputations, paraplegia, blindness and traumatic brain Injury (TBI)</li><li>How to introduce those living with disabilities to the healing power of the ocean and adaptive surf therapy.</li><li>Practical beach &amp; water instruction (also serves as a practical application and qualification evaluation by Lead Instructor staff)</li></ul><p><strong><strong>UPON FULL COURSE COMPLETION EACH STUDENT WILL BE PRESENTED WITH A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION ENDORSED BY THE ISA, AMPSURF, AND SURFABILITYUK.</strong></strong></p><p>AmpSurf™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate (PIER) all people with disabilities and their families through adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities.</p><p></p>

<h2>STUDENT INSTRUCTORS/COACHES</h2><p>Thank you for expressing interest to help us bring the healing power of the ocean and adaptive surfing to our participant athletes. Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience but it is a commitment that you have to honor. We assure you that if you put in the effort you will have one of the greatest experiences of your life.</p><h3>Qualifying Criteria</h3><ul><li>Physically able to control a surfboard with a participant athlete in the surf zone.</li><li>Able to swim and tread water.</li><li>Ability to work in the water with participant athletes for up to six hours</li><li>Able to work with various type of personalities and various conditions</li><li>At least 16 years or older</li></ul><h3>Requirements for becoming an AmpSurf/ISA/SurfAbilityUK Adaptive Surf Instructor:</h3><ul><li>Complete ASICP classroom instructor training classes. You must be there for the entire class!</li><li>Complete and submit proof of core competencies as detailed in the course. In addition the following must be done to instruct at an AmpSurf event;</li><li>Instructor must be in possession of a <strong><strong>complete Adult/child CPR with First Aid certification</strong></strong> offered through the Red Cross or equivalent. Copies of certificates must be submitted before Instructing at an AmpSurf event.</li><li>Demonstrate experience and knowledge of surfing and working with people with disabilities.</li><li>Demonstrate the ability to work as a team player, take direction/feedback, nurture a supportive, enriching environment, and be able to get along with a variety of people &amp; personalities.</li><li>Renewal/refresher course is required every 3 years.</li></ul>

<h3>Course Outcomes</h3><ul><li>Able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of surfing while working with people with disabilities.</li><li>Basic understanding and knowledge of working with people with disabilities</li><li>Show how to safely and effectively transfer a non-ambulatory person to and from the beach and a beach-wheelchair to and from a surf craft.</li><li>Be able to work as a team player, take direction/feedback, nurture a supportive, enriching environment, and be able to get along with a variety of people &amp; personalities.</li><li>Ensure participants have a good experience in the ocean and return home safely</li><li>Have a basic understanding and knowledge of how to setup and conduct an adaptive surf therapy event, including development of a proper site evaluation and map (venue analisys).</li><li>Have a general understanding and basic knowledge of a vareity of conditions covered in the manual and knowledge of how to work with/in various situations and common challenges that those issues may cause in a beach/surf setting(venue analisys).</li></ul>
